Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE)

Assistant Teaching Professor Alexander López and Associate Dean Evelyn Erenrich host an exhibitor booth for Rutgers University at the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) National Diversity in STEM Conference in Portland, Oregon this past week. They were joined by Associate Dean Kinna Perry, Deputy Director Christine Zardecki, and many current students. With over 6000 students, presenters, and exhibitors, the conference boasted the largest attendance for its 50th anniversary. Students and professionals from all stages, drawn by the iconic glider RU01, flocked to the Rutgers booth to hear about the exciting oceanographic research ongoing at RUCOOL & DMCS, as well as the many opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to get involved.

SGS is pleased to invite STEM graduate students to an exciting virtual info session to learn more about the GEM Fellowship Program. Attendees will receive guidance on applying for a fellowship, which provides not only funding but also paid internship opportunities at corporate and national laboratories.

 

Current PhD students in their 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd years, Masters students considering a PhD ,and undergraduate seniors are eligible to apply for a GEM Fellowship. US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Following an inspirational plenary speaker, meet the students at their posters and learn about the research they have done under the guidance of carefully-matched Rutgers faculty mentors. Our 58 participants represent 46 sending schools from 23 U.S. states and territories.
