Program Description

Rutgers School of Social Work’s Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work (Ph.D.) program is offered in conjunction with the Graduate School-New Brunswick. Member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), students have the opportunity to work alongside our outstanding Ph.D. research faculty, contribute to a dynamic, diverse, and accomplished global student body, and have access to nationally recognized research centers and institutes.

Our Ph.D. faculty have research interests across social welfare arenas include mental health, addiction, poverty and inequality, child welfare, interpersonal violence, housing, employment policy, and more.  Of our graduates over the last 10 years, 85% are employed as faculty, with 15% in post-doctoral, research, or policy positions.
