A Rutgers education goes far beyond our campus.
If you’re in a Rutgers doctoral program in an arts, sciences, or education field and have completed at least one year of full-time study toward your Ph.D., you may be eligible for the Inter-University Doctoral Consortium: an initiative that lets students from participating schools take classes at several host institutions.
How it works
If you have identified a course of interest at a host institution, you can first inquire with the instructor to determine seat availability. From there you will start gathering signatures on the form linked below. Students enrolled in an exchange course outside of Rutgers will be registered for a placeholder course at Rutgers (tuition and fees are paid to Rutgers, not the host school). Students must abide by the policies and procedures of the host institution, and when the course is complete a transcript with the final grade is shared for uploading into the Rutgers grading system. Courses at the host institution must be for a letter grade (audits are not permitted) though that grade is not calculated into the Rutgers grade point average.
Host institutions include:
-
Columbia University, GSAS (see special instructions)
-
CUNY Graduate Center
-
Fordham University GSAS
-
Graduate Faculty, New School University
-
New York University, GSAS
-
Princeton University-The Graduate School
-
School of Graduate Studies, Rutgers University
-
Stony Brook University
-
Teachers College, Columbia University
