The Graduate Program in Anthropology uses qualitative and quantitative methods to systematically study humanity, with the goal of understanding our evolutionary origins and the great diversity in cultures across the world and through time.

Program Description

The Graduate Program in Anthropology includes two separate tracks: Critical Interventions in Theory and Ethnography (CITE) and Human Evolutionary Sciences (HES). The CITE program offers training in the major areas of cultural/linguistic anthropology, including economic, environmental, feminist, historical, legal, medical, political, postcolonial, psychological, symbolic, and urban anthropology. The HES program applies a diversity of perspectives to research on human evolutionary history and the biological basis of human behavior. The Human Evolutionary Scientists in the program include archaeologists, geologists, human paleontologists, primatologists, behavioral ecologists, and evolutionary biologists.
