Dean Robson Honored with the Prestigious Friend of Thai Science Award 2024
Professor Mark Robson, a distinguished professor at Rutgers University and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, has been awarded the highly esteemed Friend of Thai Science Award 2024. This honor, presented by the Office of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation under the Royal Thai Embassy, was formally conferred during a ceremony held at the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C., on December 6th.
The Friend of Thai Science Award is an annual accolade recognizing individuals in the U.S., Canada, or Latin America who have made outstanding contributions to Thailand’s higher education, science, research, and innovation sectors. The selection process involved a meticulous review of nominations, facilitated with third-party oversight to ensure fairness and transparency. Final approvals were granted by the Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation.
Dean Robson was honored for his long-standing dedication to advancing Thai science. His leadership and collaboration on pivotal initiatives such as the International Training and Research in Environmental and Occupational Health (ITREOH) at Chulalongkorn College of Public Health Sciences and the GEOHealth Hub project have been transformative. These programs have played a critical role in advancing public health education and training the next generation of professionals in Thailand. His significant contributions have been previously recognized through numerous awards, further solidifying his impact on the global academic and scientific community.
During the ceremony, representatives from the Royal Thai Embassy emphasized Dean Robson’s pivotal role in fostering international scientific collaboration and strengthening ties between Thailand and global academic institutions.
This recognition not only celebrates Dean Robson’s extraordinary achievements but also highlights the importance of global partnerships in advancing science, research, and education.
