Faculty Workshop in Mentoring Biomedical PhD Students and Postdocs

Event Description

  • The NIH requires faculty to be trained in how to mentor PhD students and postdocs.
  • Even faculty who have mentored dozens of graduate students and postdocs can improve their skills in mentoring.
  • Lessons and interactive case studies will be from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER).
  • An additional focus this year will be on navigating power dynamics in academic labs.
  • Interactions with fellow faculty will help you reflect on various mentoring situations and enhance your readiness to work with mentees and anticipate new situations.
  • All faculty are invited and junior faculty are strongly encouraged to attend.
