Abbott is a global healthcare company whose research and development encompasses cardiovascular health, diabetes and glucose monitoring, diagnostic testing, neuromodulation, and nutrition. The Princeton operation is associated especially with point-of-care diagnostics—developing technologies that allow clinicians to obtain laboratory-quality diagnostic information rapidly, at or near the patient rather than relying exclusively on a centralized laboratory. This area sits at the intersection of biology, chemistry, engineering, clinical medicine, and product development.
