Event Description
- The NIH requires faculty to be trained in how to mentor PhD students and postdocs.
- Even faculty who have mentored dozens of graduate students and postdocs can improve their skills in mentoring.
- The focus this workshop will be on:
Aligning expectations with mentees
Promoting mentee research self-efficacy
Dealing with students who are struggling with stress with guest speakers - Lessons and interactive case studies will be from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER).
- Interactions with fellow faculty will help you reflect on various mentoring situations, enhance your readiness to work with mentees and anticipate new situations.
- All faculty are invited and junior faculty are strongly encouraged to attend.
