•           explore careers paths appropriate to their disciplines

•           create self-defined goals

•           map out next steps for career and professional development success

We are looking forward to celebrating all the wonderful research and scholarship conducted by SGS students from across the disciplines. This will be an online 3MT competition following the virtual competition rules.

We will hold the 2022 3MT this semester. Please join us for information session (over Zoom).

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a specific role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, CRO and other healthcare industries. MSLs have advanced scientific training generally consisting of a doctorate degree in the life sciences. Join us to speak to a panel of MSLs and learn about the From Pharma to Science Training Program and a fellowship we are offering for free if you are interested in taking the training to help you prepare for this career path.

Event Description

PTC Therapeutics headquartered right in Central New Jersey has quadrupled its research workforce in the past few years.  Originally started with a focus on rare diseases, their pipeline has expanded and now includes Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Huntington’s AADC Deficiency, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Leiomyosarcoma, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, and Covid-19. They use the newest technologies available to find innovative ways to treat those diseases. These approaches include gene therapy, nonsense readthrough, transcript regulators, Bio-e electron transfer and alternative splicing. In this session, we will explore how the concept of “self-efficacy”, which is your belief in your ability to succeed, and discuss strategies to keep you on your road to your success.

Khea Wolff, a 6th year graduate student in the Plant Biology graduate program, will present her work entitled: "An investigation into the pharmacological activity of an isothiocyanate-rich moringa seed extract". 

Stephanie Guzman, a 5th year graduate student in the Molecular Pharmacology graduate program will present her work entitled: "Targeting hepatic kisspeptin receptor ameliorates non-alcoholic fatty liver disease"
