Event Description

Join us for our next Innovate and Educate event! This event will not only expose STEM-oriented graduate students and post-docs to the role venture capital may play in funding the inventions they are creating in their academic and research programs but will also explain the types of jobs that may be available within the venture capital ecosystem for individuals that have a STEM background. The panel is made up of professionals that work in venture capital that also have PhDs in STEM-oriented subjects. They will share their experiences in funding and supporting STEM-oriented startup companies and share their experiences for how they navigated from PhD scientists to landing jobs in the venture capital industry.

While this program is oriented towards higher-education STEM students and post-docs, it is open to all students or individuals that may be interested in accessing venture capital or finding a job in venture capital!

Rutgers iJOBS

The Rutgers University iJOBS Program exposes life science PhD students and postdocs to a range of non-academic and academic career options and empowers them to pursue their career goals. In 2014 Rutgers became 1 of only 17 schools in the country to be awarded an NIH BEST grant and iJOBS programming was later expanded to all campuses of Rutgers as well as Princeton, Rowan, NJ Institute of Technology and Stevens Institute of Technology. iJOBS maintains research as the primary trainee focus while offering programming to broaden trainee's perspectives, experiences, and knowledge to facilitate the pursuit of academic and non-academic careers. For more information, visit the Rutgers iJOBS website.

IMSD welcomes Rutgers IMSD alumni: Tiffany King, PhD and Alejandra Laureano, PhD. Tiffany is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. Alejandra is a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School. Tiffany and Alejandra will talk about their current research and take your questions.
