iJOBS Workshop: Primer on Drug Discovery through Pre-Clinical Development
Event Description
This workshop will provide an overview of the Drug Discovery process, focusing on the stages of drug target selection, high throughput screening to identify lead chemical series, the hit-to-lead process, lead optimization and preclinical development. The types of assays that are required at each stage will be discussed with an emphasis on the criteria that need to be met at each stage in order to advance a compound into clinical development. Students who attend the workshop will gain a basic understanding of processes and requirements needed to bring a compound to the clinic.
