It’s exciting time in clinical research & operations – managing trials for new therapeutics to benefit patients, incorporating new technologies such as AI and more.  “ClinOps” professionals must have strong project management skills to successfully and strategically manage the many moving parts in clinical trials, among them the ability to: balance scope, budget and time; lead cross-functional teams; communicate with stakeholders; solve problems and manage risk.  But how do you position yourself to break into this field from an academic scientific background?  Join PMINJ to hear Cortney Miller, Ph.D., PMP share her journey from earning a Ph.D. in Neurobiology & Neurosciences to her current role as Associate Director of Clinical Operations at Dyne Therapeutics, with career pathways and practical approaches to begin entering this field.  Dr. Miller’s presentation will also include a personal branding exercise to illustrate how the skills you’ve developed, including your foundational project management skills, can “get you in the door” of this field.

Hear about the role of editor at a scientific journal and how to prepare for that job. Also, get advice on everything from how to select an appropriate journal to best practices in experimental design, manuscript preparation, and submission to help you get your papers published. The speaker will be Ashley Castellanos-Jankiewicz, PhD

Associate Editor, Nature Springer. Ashley joined Nature Metabolism in February 2021. With a background in human nutrition, she pursued a MSc in Fundamental Neuroscience from Maastricht University. She then obtained her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Bordeaux.

Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE) at Rutgers

We are happy to announce that both Steven Clark and Sabrina Appel have successfully defended their Ph.D. in the Rutgers physics department. These two Physics and Astronomy REU participants crossed the finish line in their race to their PhD within 30 minutes of each other! We are always glad to see our Super Grads and Alumni prosper!
