Looking to improve your teaching skills? Each semester TAP offers workshops covering a wide range of topics to assist TAs with their continued professional development in teaching. These free, virtual, interactive sessions are designed by and for graduate student TAs-- attend as many or as few sessions as you wish.
TA Project Certificate Programs
Boost your knowledge, skills, and curriculum vitae by earning a teaching-focused certificate through the TA Project. Workshops are part of our Certificate Programs: Improving Classroom Skills OR Teaching with Technology. Workshop descriptions include which certificate series the workshop is associated with. Topics vary each semester.
Improving Classroom Skills Certificate Series
The Improving Your Classroom Skills Certificate Series is composed of workshops that focus on foundational knowledge and skills in teaching. Topics range from tips for starting as a Teaching Assistant (e.g., The First Time TA, Time Management, etc.) to best practices in teaching (e.g., active learning, culturally responsive instruction).
Teaching with Technology Certificate Series
The Teaching with Technology Certificate Series includes workshops on how to incorporate software, programs, and other technologies in the classroom. Topics range from introductions to various technologies (e.g., Introduction to Canvas) to improving digital accessibility (e.g., Universal Design for Learning). Workshops within this series are primarily brought to you by Rutgers' Teaching with Technology team.
How can you earn a certificate? Students who attend and participate in at least 4 sessions in a particular workshop series can earn a certificate. Attendance is confirmed with the evaluation survey distributed at the end of each workshop. There is no time deadline; a certificate may be earned over one or several semesters. You may earn one of each certificate.
After you have attended four sessions in a workshop series, please email tapweb@grad.rutgers.edu to be issued a certificate.
