Two individuals, both from Guggenheim Securities, LLC, came down from NYC for the evening to give students more insight on what an equity research career might entail. The first speaker, Charles Zhu, Ph.D., is an Equity Research Senior Associate covering small- and mid-cap Biotechnology stocks with a focus in oncology. Before obtaining this position, Dr. Zhu worked as a biopharmaceutical market access and strategy consultant at The Dedham Group. Dr.

Biography

Dr. Abali's research focuses primarily on cancer research, biochemistry, and pharmacology. More specifically, much of her work seeks to understand connections among drug resistance and targeting folate metabolism for cancer treatment. Her research background includes postdoctoral research at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Columbia University, and Bilkent University. Most recently, Dr. Abali is working on translational regulation of dihydrofolate reductase. She and her team are investigating whether regulating DHFR levels through translational regulation relief can increase BH4 bioavailability and restore eNOS function. The goal is to test promising compounds that are effective in our vitro system in vivo experimental models.
