Recruiting and enrolling a diverse community through:
- Promoting research opportunities for a diverse cohort of undergraduates through the Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE) and Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP)
- Expanding fellowships to broaden participation in doctoral programs
- Encouraging attendance at conferences devoted to undergraduate research
- Sponsoring visits to campuses of institutions with large and diverse undergraduate enrollments
- Sponsoring events for prospective applicants to introduce them to graduate programs at Rutgers
- Creating targeted collaborations with other institutions on projects to promote diversity in graduate education
Developing inclusive approaches to research, scholarship, teaching, and mentoring through:
- Workshops for graduate students on diversity, equity and inclusion-focused pedagogy and developing culturally responsive curricula through the Teaching Assistant Project (TAP). Established in 1988, TAP also offers DEI-focused annual orientations, certificate programs, seminar courses, and discipline-specific training to support graduate students in building their capacity as graduate instructors and/or future faculty
- Workshops and resources for graduate students on inclusive mentoring
- Training for faculty in culturally responsive mentoring
- Collaboration with programs to develop courses and curricula that recognize the contributions of a diverse population of scholars
- Inclusive mentoring through the use of Individual Development Plans
Engaging students through:
- Special courses, workshops, and events to support the professional and career development of our diverse student population
- Tailored fellowship advising through GradFund
