Rutgers School of Social Work’s Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work (Ph.D.) program is offered in conjunction with the Graduate School-New Brunswick. Member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), students have the opportunity to work alongside our outstanding Ph.D. research faculty, contribute to a dynamic, diverse, and accomplished global student body, and have access to nationally recognized research centers and institutes.
The Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health prepares students for careers in research and/or academia. Through doctoral level training and research, students will develop expertise in a particular concentration area, design and implement a research project, integrate and interpret complex data, and complete a comprehensive dissertation.
The mission of the Psychology Department faculty is to combine excellence in scientific research with excellence in teaching our graduate students. All students participate in scientific research and the discovery process. Each graduate student works with a primary mentor in one of the four areas within the department. Our faculty members have a strong and consistent record of producing original research and discovery along with federal and private grant support.

SMLR's Ph.D. program in Industrial Relations and Human Resources (IRHR) is an interdisciplinary program that qualifies students for employment as college or university faculty or for research positions. The IRHR program is designed for people who want to:
• Work with leading scholars who are nationally and internationally recognized experts in a broad range of topics in industrial relations and human resources.
It is a broad-based, inherently global, industry-specific program of study that reflects Rutgers’ traditional strengths in finance, marketing, management and law, as well as its location in the New York/Philadelphia/Washington northeast corridor, the center of the sports industry.
