About Your Application

Eligible applicants will have completed or been within one year of completing one or more of the following degrees:  M.D., Ph.D., D.O, PharmD, D.D.S., D.V.M., or similar degree.

Currently enrolled in an advanced degree program are not required to re-take the GRE for entry into this program.  Instead, these applicants should provide results of the entrance examinations required for their specific degree or program (i.e. GRE, MCAT, DAT, etc). Waivers may be requested prior to application submission by contacting the Program Directors Soko Setoguchi, M.D. and James Millonig Ph.D., or by mailing a request to the Rutgers SGS at RWJMS. The ETS Institutional Code for SGS at RWJMS is  2786. The departmental code for the program is 0699 (Health and Medical Science-Other).

Under certain circumstances, TOEFL waivers may be requested prior to application submission. TOEFL waivers are restricted to Faculty, residents, or those who have recently completed or are currently enrolled in a degree-granting program offered by an accredited U.S. Institution of Higher Education. TOEFL waiver requests may be directed to the Program Directors or by mailing a request to the Rutgers SGS at RWJMS.

Note: For Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School students applying for a scholarship, applications are due May 01. Essays describing how the dual degree will advance your professional career and impact the fields of medicine and clinical and translational research should be sent to the Associate Dean for Admissions, Carol Terregino, M.D., for consideration. 

The following documents must be received to consider your application complete:

  • Completed Official Application (online application).
  • Official transcripts from prior colleges or universities.
  • Official Graduate Record Exam (GRE), Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), or Dental Admission Test (DAT) results.
  • Recommendation letters from two individuals (you can have letters sent directly from your referees, from an application service such as Interfolio or directly from your Health Professions Advisor).
  • We will accept your Pre-Health Committee Letter in lieu of two individual letters as long as it was written less than two years ago.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) required for all foreign applicants.
  • ETS code for submission of GRE and TOEFL scores to Rutgers School of Graduate Studies
    2786. There is no department code.
  • Submit an MCAT score by using the AAMC THx score reporting system to have your score sent to “Rutgers School of Graduate Studies Piscataway & Newark.” We use a single reporting system for both campuses.

International Student Applicants:

Applicants applying to the Masters's programs, and who have earned a degree overseas, must provide a translated transcript using one of the following approved credentialing services: WES (World Education Service), International Education Research Foundation, Inc., or Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.

A $70 non-refundable application fee is required for all applicants. All completed applications will be considered by the Clinical & Translational Science Admissions Committee.
